YANETH LONDONO – EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Before coming to Canada from Colombia, Yaneth worked as an environmental lawyer for eight years an Environmental Organization. When arriving in Canada, Yaneth furthered her education by obtaining a certification in Environmental Management and Assessment from Niagara College.
With always having a passion for the environment and to further educate newcomers on environmental issues, she started a non-profit organization called Links for Greener Learning (LGL). Links for Greener Learning is an organization that provides opportunities for newcomers to learn about the environment and its issues, gain Canadian employment experience and community connections while working for the prosperity of the communities within the Niagara Region.
MONICA JULIET WITVOET – PRESIDENT
Monica Witvoet is a Business Coach, Educator and Entrepreneur. She currently teaches entrepreneur workshops for immigrant women while running a successful ecommerce business, OSOhome, with her husband Chris. She has sat on the boards of the Niagara Falls Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Niagara Falls and Gypsy Theatre. Monica has a passion for social entrepreneurship and multiculturalism and is an Executive Board Member of the Fort Erie Multicultural Centre.
JENNY ANDREA SANCHEZ ALVAREZ – TREASURER
Jenny Andrea Sanchez Alvarez graduated with Business Accounting Diploma Niagara College in 2010. Her professional experience includes positions as Purchasing Assistant, Customer Service Representative and Administrative Support Staff at Core-Mark International from 2011 to 2013.
Jenny was also an Accounting Clerk for Empaques from 2003 to 2006. From 1996 to 2003, she also worked as an Office Administrator for CVC, which is an environmental government organization. This position taught Jenny a great deal about recycling and sustainability. This is what sparked her interest in environmental issues and Links for Greener Learning.
AMBER NICOLE TALLMAN – SECRETARY
Amber has a strong passion and dedication for social justice, environmental education and the arts. As a Social Worker and Life Skills Coach by trade Amber holds a strong connection to the community as she currently works for the Folk Arts Multicultural Centre as the Community Connections Coordinator. Here she is able to use her experiences of living abroad and teaching ESL to assist newcomers in their settlement to the Niagara Region.
Born and raised in the Niagara Region her roots are deeply connected to the community. She hopes to continue to give back to her community as a member of the Links for Greener Learning Team by supporting positive educational opportunities and resources.
MARK SHANTZ – (CHAIR)
A long standing St. Catharines resident, Mark has deep roots in the Niagara community. Mark is a teacher by training with a BA in history from Brock University and is the Arts and Culture Coordinator with the City of Welland. With a background in not-for-profit organizations, Mark has a passion for social justice issues and is also the current President of the Garden City Food Co-op.
